Friday 16th July

  • The Nicholson Hotel in Nicholson, from 10 am to 7:00 pm.

  • The Black Stump General Store in Johnsonville, from 10 am to 7:00 pm.

Saturday 17th July

  • The Black Stump  General Store in Johnsonville, from 6 am to 9 am.

We thank you for your resilience in these challenging times and please acknowledge everyone will need to follow the Covid-19 regulations from the Victorian DHHS, at the time, which may also change, at any time. We will keep you informed but currently:

  • Each attendee is asked to do a symptom self-assessment prior to leaving home and not attend if they are unwell or have been instructed to isolate or quarantine.

  • Attendees must maintain at least 1.5m physical distance between those from other groups at all times.

  • Requirements for face covering, observe cough etiquette and personal hygiene measures.

Fishing Times

Saturday17th July from 6:00 am till Sunday 18th July with the last weigh-in at 11:30 am.

(Note this is a change from previous years. Due to the competition being Catch & Release only, there will be no fishing on Friday night.

Fishing Category Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

  • Heaviest Bream for 1. Men, 2. Women, 3. Kids.

  • Heaviest Other Species for 1. Men, 2. Women, 3. Kids.


A prize draw will be held for the following heaviest fish:

  • Top 10 heaviest Bream for a Hobie product (to be announced) sponsored by Hobie for 1. Men, 2. Women.

  • Top 10 heaviest Fish overall for a prize (to be announced) sponsored by Black Stump Store only for Kids.

The Major Prize draw for all contestants will include

First Prize: Quintrix Boat

Other prizes to be announced shortly.

There will also be secret weight prizes for kids and adults.

Competition Rules

  1. Contestants may fish Gippsland Lakes and Rivers (but NOT Lake Tyers).

  2. All anglers must have a current fishing licence, and adhere to state regulations and bag and slot limits.

  3. All boats must comply with the boating regulations especially those regarding safety equipment.

  4. Each entrant will be permitted to weigh in one fish, per person, per day.

  5. Any person submitting an undersized fish will be disqualified from their team.

  6. The weigh-in of an eligible bream must be a minimum length of 28 cm.

  7. Caught and released fish must swim away. Final decision made by Fishcare & Nicholson Angling Club.

  8. No carp, eels or stingrays may be weighed in.

  9. The winner of any prize must be in attendance personally to collect their prize or a redraw will take place.

  10. Persons participating who are under age must be accompanied by a parent at the Major Draw to be eligible for prizes.

  11. No discussions will be entered into regarding the committee's decisions, which will be final.

  12. All entrants in this event must agree with the liability waiver and model release (PDF 36Kb).

  13. If you are entering an event on behalf of someone else, you accept the liability waiver terms and model release on their behalf.

  14. If an entrant is aged under 18 years, the liability waiver and model release will be viewed and agreed to by their legal guardian in order for them to compete in their event, and that their legal guardian will be responsible for their safety during the event.

  15. If you do not accept the terms of the liability waiver and model release you must cancel your entry transaction now.

Fishing Rules

  1. Weigh-ins to be conducted by Fishcare & Nicholson Angling Club only.

  2. Upsizing is available for all Catch & Release categories.

  3. Entrant must be equipped with suitable live fish holding tanks. (An esky size container with adequate water to keep the fish alive).

  4. Bream will only be accepted if in a healthy condition upon entry – the official’s ruling is final

  5. Bream must measure 28cm or greater to be eligible.

  6. Bream are to be taken to the nearest Release Station at the earliest convenience.

  7. Upon arrival at the release station, fish are only to be handled by the officials.

  8. Officials will tag and release bream entered into the Catch & Release competition.

  9. Kids are for those aged 16 and under.
