The Nicholson and Tambo rivers and the Gippsland Lakes are prime fishing spots for bream, estuary perch, flathead and tailor. The rivers can be accessed from boat ramps at Nicholson and Johnsonville.

The Twin Rivers region is home to the Twin Rivers Bream Classic.
